Common Masonry Problems In Arlington, TX

With our hot summers and hard rains, every homeowner is going to experience masonry problems at some point. But you can save a lot of money when those problem eventually occur if you spot them early and have repairs performed by a professional. From East Arlington to West Arlington, here’s the most common types of masonry problems we’re fixing every day.

Tuckpointing / Repointing

When mortar joints start cracking or crumbling, tuckpointing restores both appearance and structural integrity. We carefully remove damaged mortar and replace it with new material that matches your existing color and texture. This process prevents water from getting behind your bricks and causing more serious damage.

Bowing Or Sagging Walls

Walls that bow or sag indicate serious structural problems that need immediate attention. We assess the cause, which could be foundation issues, water damage, or poor original construction. Our repair approach depends on the severity, ranging from reinforcement to partial rebuilding.

Brick Restoration

Over time, bricks can become stained, damaged, or discolored. Our restoration process brings them back to their original condition using specialized cleaning techniques and careful repair work. We match replacement bricks perfectly so you can’t tell where repairs were made.

Efflorescence

Those white, chalky deposits on your brick are called efflorescence, and they’re a sign of water problems. We don’t just clean off the deposits; we identify and fix the underlying moisture issue that’s causing them. This prevents the problem from coming back.

Fireplace Fire Repair

House fires can severely damage fireplace masonry, creating safety hazards that require immediate professional attention. We assess fire damage, replace damaged firebrick, repair structural elements, and ensure your fireplace is safe to use again before giving you the all-clear.

Cracked Chimney Crown

The chimney crown protects your chimney from water damage, so cracks are serious business. We repair minor cracks with specialized sealants and rebuild severely damaged crowns. A properly functioning crown prevents water from entering your chimney system and causing expensive damage.

Sidewalk Repair

Cracked or uneven sidewalks create safety hazards and hurt your property’s appearance. We repair concrete sidewalks using techniques that blend seamlessly with existing surfaces. Our repairs address the underlying causes to prevent future problems.

Sagging Garage Lintel

The lintel above your garage door supports significant weight, so sagging is a serious structural issue. We assess the damage, provide temporary support if needed, and install new lintels that meet current building codes. This repair prevents potential collapse and protects your investment.
